The workshop will be conducted as a synchronous face-to-face one-day workshop on March 13, 2023, in Arlington, Texas, United States. The workshop will serve as a forum to exchange ideas on how we, as a community, can use our knowledge and experiences from CROSSMMLA to design new tools to analyse evidence from multimodal and multichannel data.

In this Call for Proposals, we invite submissions for demonstrations and position papers for discussion during the workshop. If we receive a sufficient number of submissions, we will publish them after the workshop in the CEUR proceedings. The submissions for the demonstration may include one or more of the following topics:

Sensor data gathering setups and prototypes, data analysis and annotation methods and tools

Learning activities and Pedagogical designs that could benefit significantly from CROSSMMLA techniques

Examples of CROSSMMLA research designs or case studies

The submissions for the position papers are focused more directly on the theme of this year’s: closing the loop in multimodal learning analytics. A particular focus will be on how MMLA can contribute to research and practice to support learning along with these themes:

Logistical: organisation and planning of multimodal data collection, implementations of MMLA in real-world settings, fidelity issues, and real-world evaluations;

Methodological: methods, analyses, technical improvements, data cleaning;

Pedagogical: integrating our tools in existing educational settings, evaluating their impact on learning gains, and adoption by instructors and students;

Ethical: related to the moral principles and aspects of the MMLA work, fairness, inclusion, transparency, accountability, surveillance, performance orientation etc.)

Please check the workshop website for more information about topics and expected contributions: https://crossmmla.org/.

Submission guidelines

Details

Accepted papers will be presented and included in the workshop proceedings.
